Agar culture plate – “Wine Cap/King Stropharia” – Stropharia rugosoannulata

Commonly refered to as the “garden giant” for the size it can grow to, Stropharia rugosoannulata is a popular edible mushroom.

Substrate: Grows great on straw substrates or in wood chip outdoor beds and is a great companion to many heavy feeding plants.

Temperature: Broad spectrum 10-20°C

Characteristics: Wine-red caps, the colour of the gills develop from a pale to grey and eventually a darky purple-brown. Firm white fleshy stipe, cortina, veil remnants and a wrinkled ring.
