Description

Commercial-Grade Injection Port PF Tek Bags (BRF & Vermiculite)

For nearly 20 years, Aussie Mushrooms has set the standard for mycology supplies in Australia. If you love the foolproof nature of the classic PF Tek method but want to massively scale up your yields without juggling dozens of glass jars, these fully sterile, ready-to-inject substrate bags are exactly what you need.

Perfect for Oyster mushrooms and other BRF-loving varieties, these bags are optimised for rapid colonisation using your favourite spore or Liquid Culture (LC) syringes.

Massive Capacity & Versatile Fruiting

  • Supersized PF Tek: We don’t mess around with tiny portions. Every single one of these bags holds the equivalent of more than twelve (12) half-pint PF Tek jars worth of premium Brown Rice Flour (BRF) and vermiculite substrate.

  • Fruiting Your Way: Once fully colonised, you have options. You can fruit the mushrooms directly out of the bag, or you can remove the plastic and fruit it in a terrarium/shotgun fruiting chamber just like one giant, super-sized PF Tek cake.

The Aussie Mushrooms Difference

Contamination is the enemy of every grower. We process these bags exactly the same way we process the substrate for our own commercial farm.

  • True Core Sterilisation: These bags are 100% sterile. They are cooked in our commercial autoclaves, where we actively monitor the core temperatures of the bags—not just the ambient machine temperature—to ensure they hit the exact heat required for the exact amount of time.

  • Class 100 Cleanroom Sealing: The bags are cooled and sealed inside our custom, state-of-the-art Class 100 mushroom laboratory. To guarantee our lab environment is flawless, we even leave open, nutrient-filled agar plates around the room while sealing. If the room wasn’t 100% clean, those plates would grow contaminants. They never do.

Crucial Storage & Care Guide

How you store your bags before and during colonisation will dictate your success.

  • Stand Them Up: Always stand bags upright so the substrate material is away from the white filter patch.

  • Keep Filters DRY (Airflow is Mandatory): Filters only work when they are dry! Do not lock your bags in a closed cupboard or sealed box. Without proper airflow, humidity builds up, the filters get wet from the grains, and contaminants will use that moisture to grow right through the filter.

  • Temperature Control: Keep them in a dark, cool area below 20°C (but not in the fridge—fridges are only for putting mushrooms to sleep). Temperatures of 22-24°C or higher will cause the bags to sweat, wetting the filter and pulling in problems. Stable, cool temps prevent sweating. If it is too warm in your state, wait until the cooler seasons to grow.

  • Hygiene: Always wear freshly clean clothes when working. Deep clean your work and storage areas monthly to keep the environmental spore load down.

Step-by-Step Inoculation

  1. Prep: Wipe down the built-in self-healing injection port with an isopropyl alcohol swab.

  2. Sterilise: Flame-sterilise the needle of your spore or LC syringe until it glows red, then let it cool for a few seconds.

  3. Inject: Pierce the port and inject just 2 to 4ml of your culture into the bag.

  4. Incubate: Store the bag in a clean, dark place between 16-20°C until fully colonised. Easy!

Maximising Your Flushes (Yields)

You should expect to get 3 good flushes (harvests) of mushrooms from these blocks if you keep them uncontaminated.

  • After your first flush, let the block “rest” for 2 to 4 weeks.

  • To trigger the next flush, soak the block in cold water in your fridge overnight (this cold-shock stimulates the mycelium).

  • Pro-Tip: Each subsequent flush will take a little longer to come through than the last, so be patient!

Arrival Instructions & Our Strict Guarantee

Shipping can be rough on heavy substrate bags. Please follow these rules to ensure your grow is a success:

  • The 1-Week Rest Test: Unbox your bags as soon as they arrive. Do not inject them right away! Let them sit at room temperature for 1 week. This allows you to easily see if any micro-tears or shipping damage compromised the bag before you waste your valuable genetics on it.

  • The 2-Week Window: If any issues or contamination show up during that 1-week resting phase, please email us photos of the uninoculated bag within 2 weeks of receiving your order, and we will replace it. After this 2-week time period, there is no warranty. Any contamination that shows up after 2 weeks has occurred post-arrival due to improper handling or storage. Please check our FAQ page for proper storage guidelines.

  • Once You Inject, You Own It: Do not inject a bag without resting it first. Moulds and contaminants only take a few days to show up, so resting the bag for a week guarantees it is 100% clean and safe to use at the time of inoculation. If you use a bad culture, your bag can be overrun in as little as 24 hours. Therefore, if contamination appears right after injecting, it is almost certainly from the inoculation process itself. Unfortunately, we cannot cover mistakes made during inoculation.
